Itineraries and places to visit in Tuscany, near Montepulciano
Tuscany: beyond the tourist routes
You can't see all of Tuscany in just one trip.
Every season, every road, and every village tells a different story. Staying at Merigge means setting out from Montepulciano to explore the region as you please, with no rush to see it all. Over the years, we’ve created a network of wineries, restaurants, artisans, and people we know in person. That’s why we can offer advice based on firsthand experience and a willingness to listen, so we can suggest places that truly reflect your interests. Our job isn’t to plan your day. It’s to help you make it truly your own.
Among villages and hills
Staying at Merigge means being able to make a different choice every day. Montepulciano, Pienza, and the charming villages of the Val d'Orcia are all within easy reach, but there’s no need to try to see it all. Sometimes, all it takes is a quick visit to a village in the morning, a scenic drive at sunset, and a leisurely lunch to take home your fondest memories.
Wine speaks of Montepulciano
From Merigge, it takes just a few minutes to reach some of the region’s most iconic wineries. Rather than naming specific places, we prefer to suggest spots we know well and that tell the story of wine through the people who make it.
Days with no plans
Experiencing Tuscany also means choosing to stay put. Spending time at Merigge, reading, relaxing by the pool, strolling through the garden or among the lavenders can turn into part of the experience, simply by going with the flow of the countryside.
Nature within walking distance
Around Merigge, the countryside is always close by. A stroll through the vineyards, an e-bike ride, or a drive down a dirt road with no specific destination in mind can turn even a few hours into an authentic experience. Because sometimes, the best way to get to know a place is to take the time to explore it.
Tuscan cuisine
Part of experiencing Tuscany is slowing down and enjoying good food. A village trattoria, a restaurant nestled among the hills or dinner overlooking the vineyards can be just as memorable as the places you visit. Tell us what you’re looking for and we’ll share places we know personally and think you’ll love.
Local recommendations
Being familiar with the area also means understanding visitors' needs. Some guests want to spend the day exploring local villages, others would rather enjoy a wine tasting, a walk in nature or a special dinner. That’s why every recommendation comes from listening to our guests and knowing the area first-hand. You won’t find a one-size-fits-all itinerary here, but suggestions designed to help you experience Tuscany in the way that feels most natural to you.
